Digital Fundraising Strategist

We’re a full-service digital firm that works with Democratic candidates and liberal causes. We work in partnership with our clients to package their unique story into digital content that is both compelling and data-driven — motivating the right people to read, to listen and, most importantly, to act. Over the past five years, we have helped dozens of campaigns, nonprofits, and mission-driven organizations raise money online, persuade voters, and win hard-fought elections.

Position

Ascend Digital Strategies is seeking a Digital Fundraising Strategist to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing impactful email, SMS and direct response campaigns that resonate with a broad spectrum of grassroots activists and supporters. This position reports to a Principal at the firm.

Impactful, creative, and clear written content — drafted with its audience in mind at all times — is the foundation of our digital campaigns and is mission-critical for this position.

This position can be performed on a hybrid basis in the D.C. Metro Area or remotely from elsewhere in the continental United States. Occasional domestic travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Craft compelling, on-message email and SMS copy to engage donors and grassroots activists
  • Load, format, and send advocacy emails and text messages using CRMs
  • Brainstorm and suggest innovative strategies for testing, optimization, and re-engagement campaigns
  • Develop and manage client content calendars
  • Assist in the creation of client performance reports, including both back-end spreadsheet management and client-facing memos
  • Participate in internal strategy meetings and brainstorms, as well as meetings with clients.

Skills & Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Exceptional writing skills, across a wide variety of platforms, messages, voices, and situations
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Flexibility and adaptability — including the ability to remain unfazed in rapid-response situations, innovate and problem-solve when you hit a roadblock, and maintain a positive attitude throughout
  • Experience working with email or direct marketing programs for electoral campaigns, advocacy organizations, or non-profit entities
  • Genuine passion and enthusiasm about raising money for Democrats and helping them win elections

Pluses:

  • Specific experience with Democratic digital fundraising
  • Prior campaign or election cycle experience
  • Facility with data management, experience with spreadsheets, and general savviness with learning new technologies
  • Familiarity with online organizing platforms, HTML/CSS, and/or CRMs (e.g., NGP, EveryAction, Action Kit, Switchboard)

Compensation

The starting salary for this position ranges from $55,000 – $65,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Benefits
